Good Sauce for Bugs
Good Sauce for Bugs
Balmain , Moreton Bay Bugs or however you wish to call them . Looking for a good sauce recipe for these tastefull critters.
Be it a hot suace or otherwise . Some years back had a week in Cairns where we sat for a feed of Bugs in a Resturaunt there and the sauce that was dished up with these Bugs was something else .
Now I have purchased a couple of boxes of these Bugs Green (Raw) and would like to maybe find that sauce recipe ???..
Yep allready sussed out youtube , some nice recipes as well as some of my own but on quest here ...
Appreciate any feedback.

Re: Good Sauce for Bugs
Never tried Moreton Bay bugs but I have eaten plenty of mudbugs. Usually boiled in water with a bunch of crab boil along with some corn and new potatoes. No sauce. You only need cold beer and good friends to compliment crawfish. The corn and potatoes are there to satisfy your appetite.

What doesn't work with some melted butter, salt and a cold beer...
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.

And here I was going to share my Psarrosoupa recipe..

Are we talking about crawfish? Tail meat is excellent prepared as etouffee over rice. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/eme ... -1-3645763
Also, delicious when prepared like shrimp and grits. Then there are crayfish beignets https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cra ... ing-sauce/

moreton bay bugs are more like lobster than crawfish. One of my favorite shellfish down under. What was the sauce you had like?

Re: Good Sauce for Bugs
When we were kids, now that's going back about 60 years for me, we used to have a little club house in the woods. I remember a time when we fried up a bunch of Japanese Beetles in a skillet. There were only 6 of us in our club because eating the beetles was the only way to join. This kept all the girls out.
