Sweet looking combinations! I really like your ferrule and end cap choices. Opening up an Etsy store soon?

They are coming along nicely and will look gorgeous once completed.

I'm extra excited because a few of those are mine 8-)

Thank you!

Mark @CKTG placed a good size order, so the Etsy store will happen. Handles 3-6 are heading to CKreef, number 7 is off to another buddy.

Congrats on going pro! That's really cool, especially when you consider how addictive a hobby like this can be. It's like how many handles will you personally need, probably only so many, but when other people want you to make them for their knives, then you get to keep making more! :)

Not sure if you're a seasoned woodworker, but if not, one thing to note is that many woods change color over time. Hobbithouse is a nice resource with many pics of a lot of species often with photos of aged wood or aged wood items. The problem with many woods is that they can change color over time, purpleheart is a good example. It can be really nice purple but then turn plain darkish brown, so that in combination with its usually boring grain means it's better to pair it with a contrasting wood. I've had purpleheart in my cutting board change color losing all its purple color in less than six months.

Some other examples of unflattering color changes: redheart/chakte kok loses its red color, cocobolo and ironwood can get really dark, osage orange/bois d'arc turns from bright yellow to muddy brown.

Some good reading:

Thank you. I am a moderately experienced woodworker/DIY type, but this is my first deep dive into exotic woods. The other kicker is that I have some red/green colorblindness.

Stay tuned. Posting today's update soon.

Very stunning. Can't wait to see a few of these handles hanging off my knife bar.

I'm not a wood worker but after reading this thread I wonder how treating the wood effects how/if it changes color over time.

I suspect the color changes have to to with air oxidation or photo bleaching from light.

I think all of these handles look great. I'm especially intrigued with #5 for ckreef. I really like the look of that red palm.

Thank you.
I have some reservations about Red Palm and how it will hold up. I may try working with some stabilized versions.

Here is the finished work from that set:

Mine are the first 4 in the above picture. #4 is the red palm, looks awesome. #2 is curly mapple and olivewood ferrule, which is really sweet too.
