I have the dia-sharps up to eef or 3 microns. They work great for pm steels but I generally don’t take my edc to that level unless it’s cpm-m4 or occasionally s-30v.
The only problem I have noticed is from s-90v taken a high level of sharpness. Maybe it’s just a bad heat treat by Benchmade but if I sharpen my pencil (think about flex) the knife looses it’s edge immediately. I always make sure to get rid of the burr so that should not be an issue.

I'd send the knife back to benchmade - I have a few of their knives and they all take and hold great edges.

S90V should be able to dispatch MANY pencils without any edge degradation.
Agree w Isaboogy about sending back to manufacturer.
