Sharpening m4

Post by raleighcook15 »

How difficult is it to sharpen this steel? I have an edge pro with the stock stones. Should there be an issue

Haha, so shouldn't be an issue at all? I just want to make sure, the write up said it would be difficult to sharpen which doesn't seem to be the case here at all.

Personally I'd use diamond plates & Shapton Glass (or other ceramic stones).

It would be a chore but the stock stones might do the job.
I'd at least get the $35 SP500 http://www.chefknivestogo.com/shglst500grf.html

If this violates a policy please delete this and accept my apologies.

I noticed that you said you didn't have funds for new stones. I bought one of the cheap china Edge Pro knock offs and broke it in about 2 weeks. It came with a set of cheap stones. I also ordered a set of china diamond stones. The stones are really cheap but the diamonds might work ok for a while. I don't think I have even used the diamond stones. The are about 3/4" wide instead of the full 1" width of the proper stones. They also have a plastic backing instead of the aluminum back like the good ones. I don't want them or need them. If funds are tight you can have them super cheap. A few bucks plus some for postage is OK. Or if you have access to some leather you could send me some so I can make some strops.

I appreciate the offer but I haven't purchased the knife yet. I really was just doing some research on it. Thank you for the responses
