Do you need the 1/2 in wide stones to do recurves

I have never sharpened a true recurve but I found that the 1/2" stones really help with curves on folders. I found that EP has the tendency to slightly widen the bevel when getting to the tips of thick blades such as the Mini Grip, so for me the 1/2" stones solved the problem. If you use the polishing tapes, you'll also need to get a 1/2" blank.

Look further down this forum. I asked about sharpening recurves and got a lot of advice.

I shape stones narrower and rounded specifically for recurved blades.

A diamond stone shaped like this would be a great idea it would never lose its shape
