Takeda Classic Medium Gyuto - SOLD!

Post by pd7077 »

It kind of pains me to do this, but I have way too many knives sitting around and not being used so I’ve decided to let a few go. The first will be my beloved Takeda classic medium gyuto. I have used it sparingly, and it has not seen a full sharpening progression. The last touch up consisted of 6k & 12k diamond stones and finished on an Ohira suita. The handle was made by Joe (@jobone): Royal ebony with a copper/brass mokume bolster. This package will also include an Isaiah Schroeder saya (not sure what kind of wood it is) and the original box.

Asking $555 shipped and insured ConUS. For international buyers, I will cover the first $25 on shipping.

Knife Specs
Edge length: 257mm
Height at heel: 64mm
Spine: 3mm out the handle
Weight: 191g (6-3/4oz)
Balance point: Between the 🖤 and “AS”

Ooooh...hmmm...this is quite tempting. I'm not sure I can excuse it, but if I had to take a risk on owning just one Takeda after my previous try of a sasanoha, I think this would be it. In my mind, this is about the best of everything he has to offer, and with an upgraded handle to boot. GWLS.

Joe definitely killed it on the handle. It’s tough for me to let this one go, but as good as it is, it has been supplanted by the Kipp fishhook. Redundancy is a killer 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ve played with that knife, if your a Takeda fan that is a good one, exceptional even, you won’t be disappointed. That handle is a nice touch too, nice job Joe!

I wouldn’t have minded if this Takeda found its way to your home. You would have treated her right, but don’t worry...I’m still sorting through my knives, and there will surely be more for me to tempt you with in the coming weeks 😂

Haha. I'll have to keep my eye out! I definitely feel that Takeda makes great knives, even if they don't quite fit as well with the cuisine I normally cook.

I’ll give you a hint, it’s a Kono so you might be slightly interested 😉

Oh I will be watching to see what pops up next.

This was such a lovely knife, and the handle was a perfect complement. Well done, buyer!

Now I just want to hire you to photograph all my knives.....
