Maybe "The Dan Knife" could be added as a kanji.

Don't they all basically say, "Tanaka's Knife" or "insert-your-maker's knife"

When I'm old and free, maybe I'll get the gear and know-how and make a knife of my own, and then I'll figure out what kanji says "made by Dan" :ugeek:

One of my very first Jknives was his B#2 Dammy, after having heard so much about it... but mine turned out not so spectacular. I had professionally thinned to great effect, but I have since sold it. Now, this one arrived and it does "Tanaka" just like it ought to - chunky, yet penetrating. Authoritative and confident, yet easily flowing from heel to tip. Release is just fine, and maintenance is a breeze on these stainless clad

Like everyone else I love the knife but what about the picture. Its awesome! The low key background, the composition with the ginger peeking in from the top left creating tension, the hit of red from the tomato. Well done.

P.S Is that knife levitating? Oh and nice lighting!

It'd be katakana, not kanji, as Altadan isn't a Japanese name.

ダン作; Made by Dan

But why Japanese characters, instead of inscriptions in your region's local languages?

Thanks heaps for the transliteration!
What if I swapped my name for the word "Judge" or "the Judged", would that work with a kanji?

I find the local script (the appropriate font) fits much better when written tightly on pages and scroll, and less so on stone and steel. Go figure.

Jknife, thank you for your kind words and attention. The knife is in fact levitating. It's a trick handed down in our region for ages. Unfortunately I can only make small things rise a very small distance, but I know of one who was able to not just walk on water but also to cause others to do so, if you'd believe it 🙃

My first Japanese “laser”. Enjoy using the knife. It’s light and nimble. Cuts very well.

Yes, Sir. I agree.

Still getting used to the light weight and the octogonal handle (my first).

I saw that knife in many of his in progress pics and wondered who had their name on it. Awesome. I also just picked up my first from Tim and it won't be my last.

I have the same one with a blonde ferrule.. it’s my most prized possession. Congratulations on scoring one! Not an easy hunt…

Yeah it's truly one the best out there.

I preferred the blond one. But in order to act fast didn't notice that the default black one was selected. Nevertheless, not unhappy with the black one :).
Finally after many attempts over a year was lucky to grab one. Everything was gone within seconds(as always the case with Kono Fuji)
