Truth be told, I used to love these things....... back in the 70s. Don't think I've seen em in a while.
If you have any left from the 70's I would advise against consumption.

chicken flavored crackers? Hmmm...does it taste like bullion cubes?
Yes. It's amazing. The best is when you make chicken broth from msg cubes then dip the msg crackers in the msg broth! Double chicken "flavor" yummm

Sounds good to me. I just ate all fried foods for dinner anyway. Well, I had a fresh cucumber salad too but that is besides the point. I had fried green tomatoes and fried zucchini. And a few glasses of Mateus, a favorite carbonated wine of my wife. Hum, fried green beans would be nice but there are none on the plant yet.

I did an Oktoberfest last year and the host, who is a native German, insisted we cook chicken doner kebabs topped with a very specific spice I had never seen or heard of before, Fondor. I though, "Oh, how interesting, a German spice blend. I wonder what's in it!"

It's salt and MSG. Behold, the fabled European palate.

This is a weird thread.

But I confess: I love Chicken in a Biscuit. I probably get a box once every year or two for oldtime sake. I see them in most grocery stores. Don't know why, but they were one of my favorite snacks as a kid.

Nowadays I try not to eat junk food, but if I do, the less processed the better. I've even made my own potato chips ...

Meh, if it isn't processed then it does not taste the same. However, my grandmother made her own chips as well and they were quite good. Not like a store chip but good. I must admit to having a weakness for junk food, which is why we don't buy it. My wife always asks if I want this or that and I have to tell her no because if we have it, I will eat it.

I'm a chip addict. Especially helps when I don't get off from a dinner shift until like 1am. Shitty nachos here I come. Utz cheese dip being one of the best for it. Lol.

I'm with Kramer from "Seinfeld " - " Extra MSG!" when ordering Chinese. MSG is pure glutamine; the OU-"Original Umami ".....

I've never heard of them but now I'm getting the urge to go on a hunt for them! :geek:

I agree weird thread.
As a kid these were awesome, not the same today or as I remember the last time I had them years ago.
I also think that if make it at home from scratch, it's not junk food.

Right? They do taste different. My father and I had this conversation about a year ago, it is almost as if they have a stale taste to them in this day. He was majorly disappointed. But at least we can get them again, from my understanding they disappeared for a few years but so did I so I would never have noticed.

I actually jazz them up. The wife recently got some that I thought had a stale taste- not like the other 147 or so boxes I've consumed of late. I empty the box into a freezer bag, toss in about a half teaspoon of onion powder and some pink Himalayan salt that I crushed up with a mortar & pestle, and shake it up real good, and then I try to stay away from them. They never see the crack of dawn.

There is an issue of change in recipe - like Hershey going cheaper, change in taste buds, and the store's poor stock turnover.
I know a lot of companies have gone with lower cost formulas and I know taste changes with age.
