- You need a minimum of 4 posts to move out of the "Newly Registered Users" group and gain PM permissions.
- We've increased the max PMs per folder (Inbox, Sent Messages) to 150.
- I'm almost afraid to post this but...In addition to the Inbox & Sent Messages folders you may create up to four additional folders and each of those folders can store 150 PMs max. That should give everyone plenty of closet space to store their stuff - not that you need to use it all .
As an example, on the old forum I personally created an "archive" folder and a "classifieds" folder to store select general PMs and classified related PMs for reference. - TIP: PMs you send will remain in the "Outbox" folder until at least one recipient reads the message. Read PMs will then show up in the "Sent Messages" folder.

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
Steve, on a PM note, is there a feature that will send an email when a pm is received. I cannot locate it...It was a very handy feature on the old forum. (Not that I mind checking in often)
Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
Sure, just go to the User Control Panel and select the "Board Preferences" tab, then "Edit Notification Options".
Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
Been mia busy with life & work & now that it's xmas time & scrambling for some last minute gifts & realize we have a new layout, great!
I dont know if I went about signing-in on the new forum all wrong as had to create a new password.
All my previous pm's are gone! Is that just a give-in & part of the coarse or can we the mods or Kevin make it magically re-appear?
Now I need to work on getting my post count up....

Hi Moderator and boss,
I would like to PM someone to buy a knife, when can I do so?
Thanks

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
Glad I found this thread... no wonder the PM was stuck in my outbox.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
I am getting the same message when I try to delete old pms. I'm unable to delete anything, and with a full inbox I have messages that are being filed in "hold" and aren't accessible. Anything I can do? Thanks!

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
I have the same problem. I dealt with it by deleting the inbox one message at a time. You can click on a message, there will be an “X” up in the upper right hand corner, click on it and you can delete that message. You have to do it over and over, message by message, but at least it opens your inbox back up. My usual method of marking all the messages on the last page and doing a mass delete isn’t currently working. Tells me it’s an invalid command or something.

I've been doing the same thing. Used to be able to move them by the page.nakneker wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 3:30 pm I have the same problem. Steve hasn't logged in in about 7-8 months. I know he started a new job about a year and a half ago so I doubt he has the time to fool with it.

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
In the Control Panel, Private Messages there is a link for Rules, folders & settings...
and an option "If folder is full:"
where you can have overflow Inbox messages redirected.
Create a folder and set this option.

Re: Personal Messaging (PM) Limits/Info
Nakneker--great help. I had to open each message individually and then delete it, but it worked. Slightly tedious but fun in a way. Reading and then deciding to delet each of 298 messages over the years is a trip down CKTG memory lane...
The rest f the process seems to not work as it once did. Every time I check a box (or boxes) next to messages in the full list, then click delete, then ok, all I get is this message...

So...looks like the only way to thin the message herd is to open each message and do it from there.
Thanks everyone!
