Stones and Fingers Don't Mix

Post by Jeff B »

For those that didn't see this in the Sharpening Sub-Forum
Keep those fingers off the stone.

If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.

Bringing back the old videos.

I assume we'll see "you suck at cooking" soon?

Oh, God! That bleeding is not inevitable. I do admire his commitment, but that's kind of insane.

Yikes. I had not seen this one. It is...troubling.

Lol, I like chatting with the Doc, though. He has helped me get some stones from Japan on a few occasions as well, nagura.

I've erased some fingerprints and drawn a little blood before reprofiling but this is ridiculous lol.

I don't know how people even get any wear because I can feel the burn when my fingertips are touching a coarse stone and I adjust...Not so much a worry on fine stones as it takes longer to feel the burn and I am done by then.

No need to stop and add water? I currently have a red finger tip as I almost wore through it while working away on a course stone this weekend. Like Kit though, I started to really feel it and adjusted before I hit this guy's level, ha.

We decided a few years ago that this was intentional. The white blood cells actually attack the sharpening abrasive and break it down, letting the stone polish above stated grit. It's frankly ingeneous.

I wonder if he needed to deburr his fingers after sharpening them. That was gruesome to say the least.

Think we may all have left a little blood on the stone when first startng in sharpening :) , at least i did as with certain blades that were a tad smooth n slppery the fingers would slip off owhen the blade was travelling "blade leading " and a very fine slice of the finger would get left behind lol..
Have a small box of surgical gloves in the the garden locker for when mixing spray for the Vegypatch and the Brainbulb lit up once as the gloves were a tad tight fit !!??:)..
Thought why not and scisscors cut off two fingers of the glave and slid over the fingers applying the pressure on the blade and increased grip on the blade was outstanding , so when i come across a hard top get on with blade i just go back and cut two more fingers of the last glove i used and " What more can you ask for " :)...
Works a treat !!..
Couldnt get over the fact that he kept going with the Vid lubricating his stone with Blood lol..

I was hoping to see him take some aspirin and watch him sharpen after starting an iv line on him.
