Re: Knife rolls and me in an apron
Nice apron but I can't bring myself to spend that much on a splatter guard. I might pick up one of the knife rolls, though. Priorities, right?
Re: Knife rolls and me in an apron
All the Hardmill stuff is VERY well made. These guys do old school quality with modern materials. We had that apron thread a few weeks ago and I was thinking that you pros would probably never wear one of these ITK, but as I mentioned in the video, I could see changing into one for greeting guests at FOH, etc.
Mark said he might bring in other items/colors.
The guy I deal with said they sell a lot of them to restaurants. I could see them being part of a uniform type thing for those in open kitchens.

Re: Knife rolls and me in an apron
I am clumsy, which means an apron that catches everything. I don't feel too bad when I burn a hole in a $6 walmart apron, though. I don't need any more expensive hobbies such as apron collecting.SteveG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2017 9:16 am All the Hardmill stuff is VERY well made. I like the look of the rolls. Thanks for doing the videos. It is good to see how the knives, both length and handles will fit. My only gripe with the rolls is the lack of a shoulder strap which imo is 100% necessary.

Re: Knife rolls and me in an apron
I like my aprin a lot. It's an indulgence for sure. Maybe 2 to 3 times more expensive than what I'd pay for something that was "just functional".
Kind of like a higher end knife huh?
But it works for me. Year round I probably wear mine 8 to 10 hours a week and we have people in and out all the time. I don't need to look nice. But, I feel better when I do.
Functionality-wise it's better than what I've owned before. Saved my clothes from bad oil spill. The pockets are deep and strong. I can get a ton of spice bottles from cupboard to prep in one trip. Top pocket gets pen, paring knife saya and temp probe.
If Mark added some colors I'd get a second for when this one's in the wash.

My roll doesn't leave my cutting board. I do go on a trip I take a different roll and it goes in a bag with a strap. I really like that that new roll and want one.

Re: Knife rolls and me in an apron
Who did your make-up? It looks great...haha.
Seriously, though...some new techniques in the videos (at least for me, I haven't been able to keep up recently). Love the results, as always. I feel like the detail zooms and editing are a step up from the using single-take standard sync...and I must say the results are functional to a "t" in the apron video in particular. I did notice that you seemed to talk faster for the apron...were you in fact a tad nervous in front of the camera?? Just teasing, of course. I wish I could read that damn sign...it seems placed so that I WOULD read it, but the resolution isn't quite there on my machine...
Thanks for the continued attention to detail!

I did order 5 more colors but they told me at least a month before they can ship. I picked up more bags too.Robstreperous wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2017 11:01 am I like my aprin a lot. Their knife rolls are high quality--fits every size knife/kitchen tool you could have...I have the denim one and it's the definition of function meets style. Plus made in the USA. Can't beat them!!
