2017 Customs and WIP stuff
I am finally starting to find a nice balance between family, full time work and Knives:) This year should turn out to be my most productive yet.
I will start this off by posting a little Work In Progress pictorial on a pair of kitchen knives I am making for a member here. The pictorial shows how I make my "Dove-Wa" handles.
I am also going to be changing my business model a bit. I will still make customs for you guys! But now in a more timely manner!
If you have an interest in a custom knife just let me know either here or by email. I will add you to my list and a month or so before your name comes up I will contact you to plan details or purchase materials. I am always game to plan a new build anytime, just keep in mind I may not be able to start for several months. These 100% customs usually get heat treated by themselves and add on a little to the cost of the knife.
In order for me to keep my costs down I send 20 or more knives at a time for heat treating, about 1 large batch per year. That means I usually have several different varieties already heat treated just waiting for a client to commission and choose edge geometry/handle materials, etc.
This will cut down your wait time so if you are looking for something sooner than the 100% custom wait, just ask!
Without further adieu...
I use a simple set up to cut my dove tail angles.
-square blocks
-C clamps
-dozuki saw
-maple board with an angle cut as a guide.
My first step once I have the block to size is to make to cuts to the same depth with a bandsaw (not pictured)
Then I set up to cut the dove tails on the frames, the scales, the bolster and a couple pics of the blades themselves

Re: 2017 Customs and WIP stuff
Thanks so much for the awesome work and it has been a real real pleasure working together and collaborating on the semi-custom slicer!
Can't wait to start using that lovely slicer!
I'll try to give some of my thoughts but I'm not a pro so I'll not be able to give a review of it like Mr jsgillis does. :p.
Pity I'm in Singapore otherwise would be happy letting one or two of the pros take the knife for a whirl and give their professional reviews of it to properly do your knife justice.

Re: 2017 Customs and WIP stuff
Some more pics on the pair I have been working on, a sneak peek at a new petty design in NJSB's Nitro V steel, and a 1095 petty that is almost finish in osage, ironwood, with some g10 liners/pins
A new west/east fusion petty geared towards home use. I design this one primarily for friends and family that want a handmade knife...something that really looks cool and will have an all around versatile shape. In stainless of course! Ive got 6 of these, ill put one of them out for some pro-evaluation (pass around)...contact me if you have an interest in this.
This one will be available soon, contact me if interested. 1095/osage orange/ ironwood, white g10 liners

Very nice stuff Tim.
Really cool idea with that ammonite embedded in the handle.

Tim you just keep getting better and better all the time!
Love your use of subtle spacers in your handle work that adds an air of detail and elegance without being to audacious. Beautiful!
