Would the Artifex 2 be a good home knife?

Post by Chefspence »

I’ve been looking for a 210 for home use and I’ve wanted to try this knife anyways. Would it hold up to home use where it may end up in the bottom of the sink with dishes on it. Probably be run in the dishwasher over and over. And definitely not cared for by the rest of the family. Will it hold up or should I look at something else?

Absolutely agree with the Vicky! It takes a beating keeps on ticking and will keep going for a home knife. Will take a pretty nice edge stainless. My one major complaint is the handle and how bulky it can be when you are pinch gripping it.

I like the Line Knife better than a Fibrox and I like Fibroxes. I reviewed it.

This steel is supposed to be tough I'd give it a go... Can you just keep it out of the bottom of the sink? Beck I've seen Germans chip if you beat them up enough or pile pots and pans on them :D

I'm a big fan of the Victorinox for a bang around knife but I wouldn't hesitate to try the CKTG Line Knife for $10 less. What do you really have to lose!

I'm disappointed in you Spence, that artifex II was designed for some hard use. Maybe not quite as much as the line knife, but still I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Plus it comes with a free parer. I guess I'll have grab one and take one for the team ;)
