Makoto AS Nakiri

Post by CacahuateSommelier »

Been wanting to do a passaround since others have been awesome and have let me join in on theirs. Just bought it & seems like something everyone would be interested in test driving

Makoto AS Tall Nakiri - 75mm tall!!!
https://www.chefknivestogo.com/miastana.html

Limiting it to about 10 people....so first to reply get in. $10/each person PayPal F&F for 7days (full week & weekend each person).. kinda want it back to use by Christmas so I am not looking to have a super long passaround. Each person pays shipping to next in line...Conus only, please

Min 100 posts required and verify actual person lol

Is this knife going to be available for auction at the end as the group buy passarounds usually allow?

As part of the group buy passarounds the knife is usually auctioned off starting at the end for the price of the knife to the organizer. Excess would go back to the participants I guess. It’s pretty informal and I don’t know if anyone has bought the knife at the end. I know the Matsubara did not sell. I think the Kuwabara might.

Ok.... so I am going to try it out for the rest of the week and send it out on Monday..... I plan to leave the factory edge alone so whoever goes first can review the edge as is and run a full progression (should they feel comfortable in doing so... no pressure) everyone please feel free to test it out on a stone to get a feel for it. Obviously it won’t need a full progression from everyone, but please at least do a bit of finishing sharpening to get an idea of how it responds to the stones.

Overall this is a beautiful beast and I will post a full breakdown of specs when I get a chance

ALSO.....

Per Lepus’s recomendation I will be making this a “Auction Passaround”....Nothing really changes for the participants... Same $10 gives access to the passaround, but it will also go towards an auction as well. Auction Structure breaks-down as follows:

* $10 fee/person to partake in passaround
* 10 person limit
* Once passaround ends and the knife has been returned to organizer there will be an auction, open to passaround members only
* Auction bidding will take place in a group Private Message and will remain open for 24hrs
* min bid increment is $1
* In the event of identical bid amounts,
top bid holder will be determined by earliest timestamp
*starting bid will be determined by:
(Total costs) - (amount collected) = start bid
*in the event that the auction ends bid-less, the organizer will keeps the knife in-Lieu-of recovering the remaining costs paid up front

Hot damn, CS!

I've love to try the Harukuze too, but take your time. It's summer. Lot of folks coming and coming. Wait awhile to use both knives if that would make you more comfortable.

But either way I am game for anything.

For sure...... I have no problem adding people still..... I'm willing to continue adding as long as it hasn’t already completed its rounds and been shipped back to me. As it stands right now I haven’t even shipped to the first person

Starting to get PMs.... sooo:

PM me directly so I can keep track of everyone & keep your info private

Title: MAKOTO Nakiri (& your actual name)

Include in body:
*Shipping address
*paypal username

I will reply with my PayPal info.... Then once I have all your addresses and figure out the order I will pm you each individually the address you will be shipping to once you receive passaround. This way I’m not giving out everyone’s private info & you all have the info you need to ship once you receive it
