Re: What items do you want to see for Black Friday?
I thought we did this already?!
I was thinking more about this after seeing that you had four item pages set to a (random) 100.
Here's what I think: it is really silly that the last thread on this was like 90% large gyutos. I think you should really push smaller knives (including gyutos). Plug a bunch of interesting and random petties and 180 gyutos, or even (heaven forbid) some santokus, which I'm sure lots of people would actually love if they used them. The advantage is that lots of these knives are already a bit cheaper, so they may for "specials" that also fall into a sweet spot of affordability for lots of people.

Re: What items do you want to see for Black Friday?
I would like to see some smaller knives as well, such as 180 gyutos, bunka knives, larger pettys.
It would be awesome to see some type of accessory (like a knife roll, hint, hint.) as well. Not to be underrated at all are spoons/spatulas in a large lot or set. These things can get passed over when fascinated by something that could be a collection centerpiece but remain essential to life in a pro kitchen.

+1. I didn't really mention it, but I was also thinking about inverting the usual black Friday model: it is nice to have black Friday specials that are surprise add-ons (like spoons or smaller knives) rather than just "door busters."Dan_Crubenew wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 2:36 pm I would like to see some smaller knives as well, such as 180 gyutos, bunka knives, larger pettys.

We did do it once but I need more items. I want to do 30 or so different sku's.salemj wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 2:29 pm I thought we did this already?!

I'll offer variety of sizes and shapes and I'll put some small accessories in the mix too.

Kono Sanjo YS in 210 please. Lol!! Any lower and I will not be able to restrain myself any longer.

@joe, quit trying to be reasonable! . I'd like the nahomuzi cleavers, some of these tall 120-135 Petty's. The sugimoto small cleaver, yansori small cleaver, Tanaka sekisko 240, and if there was a crazy deal on a takeda Nas gyuto would be sweet.

Haha. Yes. Clearly Mark wants us to be unreasonable. Point taken. I guess I am just confused about the whole thing, as it seems like a lot of work and confusion to put so many specials on low-inventory, rarely stocked options...but I guess this is also kinda the point.
To above: Yes on the YS. I realize these are already somewhat discounted, but boy would I love to try one...

I’m looking for a 240 kiritsuke or a cck cleaver but I’ll probably buy something outside of that if it catches my fancy.

Re: What items do you want to see for Black Friday?
Rather than finding my prior post on this subject and cutting and pasting I'll offer my thoughts of the moment:
Shapton stones, the SG500 and, if possible, the "Extra Grit" 500 as well plus the 1K and 2K in either Pro or SG
the 2-pc. Kunz-style plating spoon set
Takamura Chromax gyuto
Harukaze AS Wa series, the 180 gyuto in particular
Atoma 140
Anryu B2 Tsuchime series (unfortunately lots of oos right now)
selected Makoto knives (again oos issues)
selected Yahiko knives, Nashiji and KU!!
Daovu knives
Suehiro stone holder
Strop kit
Ceramic rods (skinny enough to touch up serrated bread knives)
CCK 1303
I'd love to see some Shibata or Konosuke deals but I don't see that happening

+1 on petties (and utilities), as well as cleavers.

Re: What items do you want to see for Black Friday?
The simple answer from any customer is: whatever I want to buy!
Thinking as a business person, I’d want to move:
Anything I have a lot of that I can discount and still fetch a good margin on;
Any line that deserves more attention but lacks word of mouth. Matsubara, Yahiko, Nishida, Yoshimitsu AS. Heck, even Saji.
Any steel that still lacks of recognition. Ginsan still doesn’t get enough praise as the best stainless steel.
Any style of knife that needs more exposure. A 20% discount on any bunka would be one idea.
An excellent but low cost knife that might finally get the mentally willing but not quite financially able to make the leap.

Free International shipping! adding $50 onto price makes all but the high end ones non-competitive
