WTS: Takeda Classic AS Medium Gyuto

Post by slobound »

I’m helping my brother sell a couple knives that have been “drawer queens”. He used it a handful of times and I touched it up for him on the 8K once. This one was a little too big for him so it’s time to let someone put this knife to use.

Here’s your chance, everyone needs to try a Takeda for it’s famous food release. This is a great representation of Takeda’s Classic AS and includes the matching Isaiah Schroeder saya with original box.

Measurements - 256mm x 65mm
Weight - 6.3 oz.
Price - $350, Domestic US shipping & PayPal fees included.

The patina remains on the knife but I can remove and/or sharpen at the buyers request. Here are some pics of the knife:

Oh man. This one is interesting...

I have to finish off a few projects and pay some bill. If it is still here in a few weeks, I might be tempted

This is a great example of what a Takeda should be. Beautiful knife and great price. Someone is going to get a really good deal.

Yeah, there’s no doubt this is a beastly knife. I remember the first time I held it, I thought there was no way I’d feel comfortable using it. However, it’s ridiculously light and felt like nothing in hand after a couple minutes of getting used to the length & height. My brother just prefers shorter knives.

Also, I’m a sucker for the classic version of this knife. I think it has so much more character than the stainless.

Oh man, so tempting. Such extreme overlap and I'm still tempted by this beauty. Big Takedas never feel that big to me since they're so thin.
I'm Dave. I don't take myself too seriously and you probably shouldn't either.

Since this was brought up, and the knife is sold - could someone shed light on the size classification of those Takedas?

Medium is:
Gyuto 240
Gyuto sasanoha (less tall, more like a typical gyuto height) 210
Yanagiba (sujihiki) 210

Most Takedas I think are 10-20mm oversized. Not sure the reason for the inconsistency between knife styles. From there it goes to large, extra large, and special large. There is also a size small, I think for each of the 3 knife styles, below the medium, obviously. Kinda curious why Takeda uses this sizing scheme.
