They are are all really sweet but the center and right stack have me drooling all over my desk!
Thanks, Ray! There are SOOOO many fantastic non-Japanese makers I can't decide between them all. I've been waiting for over a year and a half to get a Comet from Trey. I started bugging him in November 2017 and hope to finally have one of his knives this year. *FINGERS CROSSED* I hope to get something from Mert Tansu sometime soon as well. Crazy good knives coming out of Australia, it's hard to keep up! And of course, I need to get something from Tony LaSeur. He's been doing so much handle work for me that I have to see what kind of knives he's making. His attention to detail is amazing. One last maker on the bucket list is Xerxes. I had this gem for a while and I hated to give it up. Did everything so well, but the profile wasn't quite right for me so I passed it on. Unbelievable knife!

You have a good taste! I have a Mert Tanzu, 240 Honyaki being handled as we speak, I think his hidden western handles with his style of bolster is a no brainer. Beautiful knives

The 9th from the top is a Tim Johnson custom (highly recommended) the yanigiba is a Yoshikazu Ikeda special. Here is the description from the seller in Japan:

"Yes,I think that Ikeda is worth the higher price. He used old blue steel manufactured in 1953 for this yanagiba.

It is a little durable than modern blue steel but as easy to sharpen as white steel. So this blue steel was very popular. But Hitachi no longer manufactures this blue steel because of the cost...

So this yanagiba is more expensive than the Kasahara suminagashi"

Tim's knives are some of the thinnest behind the edge that I have ever seen. And the tip is simply amazing! I love mine.

I don’t have the extensive collection that you guys have but I’m enjoying the ones I own. Adding my group to the list.

Hi all,

Might as well jump in here.
No fancy collection, just a few dialed-in home tools...

A few more.
Perhaps some of you can recognize your old (or new) knives?
Thank you Mark and forum members!

Oh, please excuse the sentimental Henckels, Globals, etc. beaters.
They have their purpose.

Thanks Ray! I, all too often, get caught up in the... I need to have XXXXXX (whatever X is) to get my collection to be more desirable. In hindsight, my set is LIGHT YEARS better than what I had two years ago when it was just Henckels & Messermeister.
