Catch and release. Ordered this from Mert's site a few weeks ago. Feels fantastic, but the edge is slightly shorter than I expected. Unbelievable work from Mert. Used a couple times and removed most of what little patina there was from the blade. Never sharpened. Handle is Mexican kingwood. Also includes custom Indian rosewood saya.

Is it me, or has 2019 become the year of the heavy-hitters and high-rollers?

Im not being a smart a$$. What length were you expecting? Are you referring to edge length or height being to short? Thats a sweet Tansu! I love mine, easily one of my favorite blades, GLWS. If i had the cash, id be all over this.

Good question. I expected it to be a 250mm edge, but it's 245. I know 5mm is nothing, but it feels short (in length) to me when it's in my hand. I'm not crazy motivated to sell hence the firm price. I wouldn't be upset to have to keep it.

This knife is a stunner. I saw this knife on his website and know what it went for, that’s a very very fair price. If I didn’t have one of his knives inbound I’d be like Cutuu and snag this! Good luck on a stunner of a blade!

My bad, i see what you mean know. He lists the knife as a 250. This happened with me also. Mine was a 250, but its similiar length to yours. At first, i was just reading your post and thinking it was sold as a 245, my bad. Reading is my second language :?

Lower price option: $1350 F&F shipped for the weekend. After that I'm gonna just let the thread die on its own.

It is so hard to get a good hamon with aogami. Don't know how he does this. Phenomenal.

I've got a 250 Watanabe honyaki that I swore I would never part with, but I am seriously on the fence.

We'll see.

It's pretty easy to pull a honyaki out of Watanabe. He quotes 3 months but ended up 3-4 weeks. Gives options of standard versus thin, and standard versus polish. Prices definitely fair. If you are itching for it, just email him. His English is pretty darn good and no issues with communications. Very nice and thoughtful man. Damn good smith to boot - it's a great knife.

I've already asked him and he said he doesn't make them any more. But that was last year sometime. Maybe he's changed his mind now.

Ask again. He was having trouble sourcing the aogami he needed for honyaki for a period of time last year, but has cured that issue.
