Re: Show us your rack!
I only keep a few knives up and rotate them. Generally there are only three or four knives up. A petty, chef, slicer and something stainless.
This is from JKI, cocobolo. Magnet placement is phenomenal (surprisingly difficult to do), no moving or sliding knives.

Lol, no axe, just a 24 inch splitter...just can't seem to find a need for it. So it acts as visual appeal...and scaring guests.Bluenoser87 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 9:00 pmWhat’s the story on the axe? Re: Show us your rack!
Finally got almost all the knives out with the install of a legit rack. This one was made by my friend in Winnipeg, Brent Biglow. It's 72 inches wide in total, couple inches at each end aren't usable, and a 1 inch gap in the middle between magnet sets. The knives don't slide or twist, and it's made with Manitoba elm, which is what many streets of Winnipeg are lined with. Winnipeg is actually home to the largest urban elm population in North America. He's on Instagram @biglowwoodcraft

Great eye on the loudspeakers, but these are CS-77, 3-ways. Picked them up around 8 years ago. Really efficient speakers and can't ask for a better sound in the spaces I've lived.

I'll concede since posting a picture would put my life in danger...

Re: Show us your rack!
I’m a newbie here and relatively new to Japanese Knives. I have a magnetic metal bar that I use. I have a very small kitchen space.
Are there any issues with metal bars?
Thanks.

Re: Show us your rack!
Wow! You could fit quite a few knives on a rack that size, too bad. You do take great pics Jeff! I'd say after that post it's probably a good idea to hide your knives until she's read the post and had time to look for and fail to find anything sharp to express her response to it. Stay sharp! I mean safe!

Re: Show us your rack!
You just have to be careful about scratching the knives when removing and replacing and don't slide them around. I have read where some have glued leather to the face of metal strips to protect the knives. The magnets have to be strong enough for this to work though.
