I asked Jeff what his standard grind looks like, and he sent me a photo that immediately brought a smile to my face. Figured you guys would wanna take a peek as to what to expect.

Only 2 spots remaining as I’m awaiting confirmation from participant #13.

Jeff forged the blade this weekend, and he got all of the rough grinding done. It’s almost ready for HT so things are progressing nicely. He said that the final dimensions will likely be around 245x56. Hardness will probably come in around 63hRC, but he will test if after HT.

And it looks like he was able to get pretty nice alignment of the 52100 core.

I haven’t designed it yet. I think I’ll come up with two or three options and run them by Steve. He’s helped me in the past and has a nack for details. When I start on the handle I’ll post for a few pics along the way. It’ll be fun to watch this blade take shape from start to finish.

We’re holding off on the handle design for now because we want the handle to match the look of the blade. I have a pretty good idea about how the final polish will look, but I’m planning on doing a few new things so I didn’t wanna jump the gun and design a handle with Sean that might end up clashing with the finish. Any residual force scale that might be left on the knife by Jeff would probably call for a more rustic looking handle. If Jeff decides to remove all the forge scale, then we could opt for doing something a bit different.

Would love to get in on the passaround but I think I'm only at 50 posts or so. Either way It will be great to hear reviews about the knife once it's done.

I talked to Jeff yesterday. The knife has been HT’ed and he was in the process of tempering the blade. He will begin grinding the knife over the next few days. This whole thing is moving a bit more quickly than I anticipated so I’m gonna go ahead and close the list now. I currently have 13 participants signed up, and I’m reserving the last 2 spots for potential people that have reached out to me on IG. If any of those fall through, then I’ll open it up again. The participant list is as follows:

nakneker
Bluenoser87
andreu
Altadan
Bob Z
J David
Georgek
Slobound
JustinP
Jeff B
Cutuu
Keithmarder
Appleton

Participants, please email me your contact information so that I can start organizing the order.
