Butter Spreader

Post by Altadan »

Ah!

Now that's a worthy addition!

But I must know if it's sharp or not.
We have a ceramic butter place, and I just can't stand it when a knife goes TAK CLACK! SMACK after struggling through cold butter... we use things like serrated vics, or other western paring/petty knives.
This butter-spreader, however, has the obvious advantage of blade-face for added spread power.

I suppose I could just as well put my edge on it if it hadn't one already...

I really like my Robert Herder carbon breakfast knife. Thin, flexible, and can get as sharp as anything. I use it almost every morning. Opinal has a brunch knife that looks similar.

One trick that I like to use, but often forget, is to take the butter out of the fridge first thing in the morning so that come breakfast time it'll be good to go.

Here's mine. IT is the CKTG spreader with a little sharper edge and some darker stain on the handle. Works fine, if it was a little thicker I could really put an edge on it.

Here's my 50 year old "kit knife" I can barely make out the marking on it but it is very effective but a little too short for the mayo jar. There is a little bit of pitting that occurred when my kids were young and left it in the sink with mustard caked on it.

This knife is definitely old school, I love it! Every time you use it you think of the kids.

Definitely but they were only kids at the time and the spreader still is very functional. I only wish it was another 2" longer :D
