- Hover over the button to see the correct BBCode syntax and an example.
- "URLtarget" is used to create named links to URL locations, web sites, etc. This BBCode is similar to the "Insert URL" BBCode, but with two enhancements:
1) The syntax is more straightforward.
2) When a user clicks on the link, the target web page opens in a new browser tab or window (depending on your browser settings) so you don't lose your place in the CKTG Forums. - "YouTube" is used to embed YouTube videos in your posts. The syntax is simple - just use the video ID code. You don't need to use a full URL.
Custom BBCodes
Custom BBCodes
We have created some custom BBCodes to help make certain tasks easier when composing your posts. The first two are buttons labeled "URLtarget" and "YouTube" next to the other BBCode icons immediately above the text editing box.
Re: Custom BBCodes
We've create a new "Instagram" BBCode for embedding (linking) Instagram photos & videos into your posts.
Hover over the button to see the correct BBCode syntax and an example.
Just use the Instagram ID code, not the full URL. For example, if your target Instagram photo/video has this URL: www.instagram.com/p/BQYdDQKBT5B/?taken- ... knivestogo the correct ID code is: "BQYdDQKBT5B" for this result:

Fwiw, the code to embed youtube videos appears to not be functional atm.
Thanks,

Which one(s) Ronnie?
I just tried it by right-clicking on video and "copy video URL"
https://youtu.be/i-id1ZliK5g
and also copied from address bar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-id1ZliK5g
and they appear to be working - now anyway.

Thank you, for the troubleshooting. No, I cannot but it's working on another php board I frequent. Cannot see any embedded videos here (phone or desktop).gladius wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 4:13 pm---ronnie_suburban wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 2:45 pmTalking about embedding, not linking.gladius wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 2:30 pm Which one(s) Ronnie?

I'd surmise it might be my ad blocker but I don't have one installed on my phone. I'll try some alternate browsers later.

Re: Custom BBCodes
I've embedded a youtube video in this post (above). Can anyone see it? I cannot.
These are no longer visible for me using firefox, chrome or edge but again, they are visible on another php board I visit.
No urgency here. I know Mark & Sue are away this week. Just wanted to report what I thought might be a bug.

You can blame Mr. Suburban for my being here.

Re: Custom BBCodes
I checked two other browsers and it doesn't show up on either one. Vivaldi (can't find what version it is) and Konqueror 23.04.1. Both on the same system as what is mentioned above with the FireFox Browser.

Re: Custom BBCodes
I can see them and I'm using Chrome on a desktop.
I noticed a while back that I had to allow third party cookies in my browser to see imbedded videos on some sites.

Re: Custom BBCodes
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I guess I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I sure hope something can be adjusted on the CKTG side, since I have limited control over the server settings on my machines and have changed nothing on any of them since before this functionality stopped working for me.

Re: Custom BBCodes
Thanks, Jeff. I doubt that's the solution here for me. I've tried on Chrome, Firefox and Edge from my desktop, and have also tried from my phone via Chrome and Firefox, with and without wi-fi. In no cases can I see the embedded videos. If it were a cookie issue, I doubt it would manifest so uniformly across so many browsers and connection methods. Plus, it worked a few days ago and no longer does.

Re: Custom BBCodes
The Media Embed just needs turned on...I don't have the permissions when I try to use it.
There must have been a board update or Youtube update.
The media embed was created because Youtube constantly changed.
I can go into the page source and see the video Ronnie posted...but I cannot see it within the forum.

Sure it is not a client-side issue? some of us can see it just fine.
I just tried using Safari 17.2.1 on the same machine and broadband connection and do NOT see embedded media.

Given all the data points that have been posted thus far, I do not think this is a client-side issue.gladius wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 3:33 pm---Kerneldrop wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 3:16 pm The Media Embed just needs turned on...I don't have the permissions when I try to use it.

I tried it from 3 browsers on 2 machines at 2 different locations, plus 2 browsers on my phone both wi-fi and cellular. I'm still not seeing the embeds.
