Sweet collection! I can't figure out if I like all the custom handles or the blades more! Can you tell me about the knife on the left side of the 4 you have stacked vertically? Who makes it? Specs? How do you like it? I'm digging the profile and might have some research ahead of me

Robert Erickson made it for me, 230mm CTS XHP gyuto, handle materials Spalted Jatoba and Silky Oak. It's a work horse grind and I'm more of a 210mm laser kinda of guy. I bought it because I want to try out XHP, it's not bad but not my top 3. Markin Andrei 220 / 50mm laser S-grind gyuto in Elmax is one of my favorite and Yoshikane SKD 210mm gyuto.

Re: Show us your knife collection.
I thought it would be appropriate to finish up where it started.
I recently sold most of my collection in perhaps a misguided attempt at finding some stable mental ground. Denial is a strange creature, especially when you know what you are in denial of doesn't exist.
I won't waste any more or your time or forum space after this but if anyone could appraise my collection or even come up with a loose estimate, I would be very thankful. Here's a picture of them and message me for the makers/steels etc.
I apologize if this post is in the wrong place and thanks in advance for the help.

This Shoichi Hashimoto Yuuzan Damascus Gyuto 240mm just arrived! Sugi Joe is going to handle it for me. I'll begin posting the rest of the collection soon. Really enjoy looking at everyones collection. Thanks for sharing everyone!
I think the photo is sideways. Can't find edit option to rotate?

I noticed the same thing.
You know your collection is awesome when you start displaying them in the living room.

Agreed and at least the image is displaying correctly in the thumbnail . . . unless the ceiling fan isn't, um, on the ceiling!enjay wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:21 pmUp, down, sideway, that is one bloody gorgeous blade.knollbrent@me.com wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 1:44 pm This Shoichi Hashimoto Yuuzan Damascus Gyuto 240mm just arrived! And I love the random mag rack of blades on the other side of the room.
Thank you Kalaeb. Displaying them in the main room is half the reason for collecting knives. As you know, knives are art form and can replace space on the wall as such when blended with other art forms.
