Kurosaki laser w/ hand chiseled kanji collector's item?

Post by Chefspence » Fri May 17, 2019 5:38 pm

Just wondering here, since I'm considering selling multiple knives.

Being that most Kurosaki knives are/have moved to laser engraving, does that mean that we will never see these smiths making knives with hand chiseled kanji ever again?

Also, would that mean that knives from Yu with hand chiseled kanji would be more of a collector's item?

I only ask because I considered selling it, but I like the knife, love the kanji, and dont want to get rid of it if it's one of a kind these days. Eh, who am I kidding, I don't want to get rid of any knives, but I'm thinning it out a bit to buy more.

Thanks

I think any knives hand chiseled from Yu or Makoto are going to be few and very
far between in the future. Probably only special editions or runs of some knives.

Not sure about it being a collectors piece in the near future as there are thousands out there from before they transitioned to laser engraving.
That small detail might add a few bucks to the price but not much more I believe.

Very good points. Thanks guys. I really don't want to part with it. It's like when Bilbo gives the ring to Gandolf. I feel the struggle
