It's cool when you watch a video like this and actually feel the pride they take in their work just from the images.

It is wonderful to see the young people working in his shop. Also the number of women there is great.
I have to laugh though. That shop would not pass most safety regulations in the US.

This is a very typical Japanese story I've encountered many times. Family business with the owner encouraging his son to study English in school and then sending his son off to work at another company for hands-on business experience (I met him when he was the international sales rep at Tojiro). Then the son comes back and works with the father and eventually is given the business to lead for the next generation. Over the past decade, more daughters are being given the opportunity to take over family businesses too but it's still mostly men.
