10.5" Sujihiki MagnaCut

Post by taz575 »

Started up a blade for Aaron Gibson! 10.5" cutting edge, and its currently 46mm tall at the heel. Aaron wanted something a bit taller. Convex grind to a very thin edge.

Got the handle Aaron wanted me to install, so I spent yesterday working on it! It's pictured with a Kono White #1 240 laser that was in need of some serious thinning! Suji is just under 10.5" cutting edge, and 43mm at the heel. It's around .007" at the edge before I sharpen it. I cleaned up the handle as well, tried to get the metal/spacers/wood to be a bit more flush fitting without the gaps and then buffed the handle, too.

I believe so? It's nice and consistent and was the original handle on the Kono.

Final pic before it went to Aaron!

Hoping to see a video of it in action soon! I also sent Aaron one of my strops and my 52100 S Grind for him to play with a review as well!

Aaron started using it June 6th and sharpened it last Friday😁

Here is a video he made about it. It's a full convex grind, 266mm edge length, and around .10" thick at the spine.

You save such a talent for thinning/geometry! The choil shots are always amazing and I know the nuance continues through the blade. This was a cool project and kudos to Aaron for taking the plunge.
