Scratch and Dent Single Bevel Chopper King

Post by Kerneldrop »

Well even my $16 scratch and dent single bevel Chopper King likes to feel a little luxurious from time to time.
The Chopper King has a strong rounded convex edge, so it doesn't have that flat area right above the edge like others.

I got sloppy and nicked the end of my index fingers...that's going to hurt for a couple days

That looks like a fun little knife. I really like the profile and love singles!

I have one! Not a second, though, so I paid the princely sum of $30.
It came sharp, but at 20x the edge looks uneven … lotsa burr I think.

I plan to make me some Southern fried chicken soon, so I’ll probably clean that edge up on a 1k before portioning my yardbird.

(Anyone else buy food items primarily because there’s a knife that needs use?)

Ha! I often stare in the fridge at what fresh ingredients are going to go bad soon then go look at which knife/pan I want to use and go from there. If there is a knife and/or skillet I want to use but don't have the ingredient to really do it justice then I add some things to the grocery list. Dinner is very much a balance between what I want to eat and which toys I want to play with. :D

I eat mostly fruits and veggies so I always have a knife need.
For me, cutting the stalks from greens, such as Kale, is easier with a 210-240mm. Other stuff I prepare is more suited for a Nakiri or other shorter edge.

I use a chicken hammer thing every day, too.
