Hey Guys. I wanted to share a few images of a custom project I have been working on. Its finally completed and I could not be happier with the finished knife.
about 5 years ago. I was lucky enough to fondle a knife from Devin Thomas. It was what I consider the the finest scimitar made. The blade was stainless damascus . and a awesome feather pattern. Im sure many of you know the knife I am talking about. Have seen it in pictures or heard about it in story's that describe the legendary blade.. At that time. I told myself. One day. Im gona make a epic and awesome scimitar... Oh yes. I will..... lol
Fast forward many years. and I was lucky to have a client who has purchased a number of my knives. ask me "If you could make any knife what would it be" Needless to say. I used this opportunity to suggest a River of fire pattern scimitar. inspired by that amazing blade I had seen years earlier. Thankfully my client seemed to like the idea as much as me.. and the project began...
The plan. We agreed on size, and materials. as well as a unique handle shape.. I think its inspired by Ian.. another knife maker. forgive me if I am not giving credit where its due. The shape is a modified Wa. the top half is a standard octagon and then the bottom tapers some and is rounded. My client described it as a "kite" shaped handle. From there. We wanted to do a full fileworked blade . that would flow and complement the knife. The handle materials were also to be unique and cool., Yet subtle enough to not draw all of your attention to the handle and not the blade itself.. So just the right amount of flair to be Classy and Sexy. Yet not so much to be the star of the show..
Enough talk. Let me share some pictures of the finished knife. and say Thanks to you Mike for the opportunity to make this knife/dream come to life!
Blessings
