STPepper9, those are beautiful. I have 4 handles from Matchplay18 sitting around waiting until I can get into my dad’s workshop this winter. I hope I can do as nice a job with the re-handling as you.

My daughter and I made two of these together...her design, she helped with sanding. Also made a smaller one as she has petite hands, but surprised me and went with the big one. Blade is a Davoua 210 KU gyuto.

Black ash burl ferrule / brass spacer / black horn / brass spacer / green dyed sycamore snakeskin / brass spacer / horn end cap

Howzit from the Big Island. Have been wanting to forge but I have no room. Next best thing, handling blank blades. What a learning curve! LOL! How do you make the hole straight? Why does the copper spacer keep delaminating while sanding? What do I use for finish? Etc. But the learning process is well worth the results. These are a bunch of my first "practice" knives. Got budget blank blades as they were my firsts. Zhen, DaoVua, and Yahikos.
Zhen is mango with resin. DaoVuas are hybird burlwood. Yahikos are prermium Koas. Photos never do justice on chatoyance. Maybe if you wiggle the screen around. I'm happy how they came out and have refined more as I went along. I also did some sayas using cedar planks I had laying around. Finish on all handles and say were TruOil. Any feedback and criticism is welcome. Aloha.

Just built my first handle to go with a Konosuke Fujiyama Funayuki 247x53 blade. I used the existing blonde buffalo horn and attached it to a fun piece of ironwood. I'm quite pleased with it, but it was making me nervous during the process.
Handle is an octagonal hybrid, with the top portion rounded.

Beautiful work all around in this thread man! I just left the Kaua'i…. and am back in Minnesota. I could not be more jealous of your residence and weather as well right now, ha!

And nice work Marc!
I'm Dave. I don't take myself too seriously and you probably shouldn't either.
