Why can't our significant others understand that it's NOT crazy to spend $500+ on a knife... :?

Beautiful knife! :ugeek:

I mean, really, it wasn't even $400. Even less than the Takeda and Masamoto that I bought last year.

I'm lucky she hasn't castrated me.

The fact that a Takeda and Masamoto can be more expensive than a Fujiyama is what's crazy!

I'd say the Masamoto is definitely a bit overvalued. But Takeda... man, I don't know... having owned one, I'd pay even more for it. LOVE his work.

Real talk. And my girlfriend doesn't know probably 70% of the knives I buy... :?
Also I have a Masamoto KS and a Takeda, I LOVE them but I would take my Fujiyama over all of them. They are very different beasts though...

It's not every month that get to post here,
and I wouldn't have this time this lil' chopper hadn't surprised me at the post office the other week  Generous and surprising, indeed (but please, don't ask).

I gotta say that the handle is very handsome in person, and this Enjin, with its SRK-8 steel, is quite a deal for the price ;)
The cladding line is very catching, too

Would've posted the "after" shot, but I forgot to take it, and the Wok was already hot

EDIT: Look mama! no hands!
First time for everything, I guess :o
This SRK-8 gets screaming sharp indeed

I agree, the srk8 steel is excellent. I bought one of the first batch just to try out a new smith and boy was i pleased! She's a breeze on the stones too! Contratulations Dan!

Yeah that handle is fiiiiire. Don’t know anything about that steel but that’s a beautiful knife! I’m also a sucker for a KU finished nakiri. I love my Kamo.

Its cool when the knife sticks into the board, but also a pain! Gotta be careful not to torque or twist it! My Tanaka Sekiso gyuto does it as well as my Tanaka KU nakiri, expecially with heavier stabilized bone handles on them! They would do it a lot for the first week or two after sharpening and then wouldn't be as bad after that.

Wanted one of these for forever. Came second hand but unmolested. I believe it's a Shigeki.

Hey you’ve got a few things I’m jealous of! Particularly that 240 Damascus B#2…. If you ever want to let me take that off your hands you let me know😁

Also I have a Kurosaki you might be interested in…

Realized I’ve been lurking but never posted here. Will kick it off with my Steeleworks cheffy. This may be one of my new favorites. Razor sharp and super fun to cut with. And reasonably priced for the materials, fit and finish. Britton also throws in a small homemade leather strop and compound with each order.

Stainless Damascus clad CuMai with a Nitro-V core from Dion Damascus. Handle is a wonderfully sculpted stabilized curly redwood with copper, nickel-silver and black G10 bolster. Super nice guy. He’s on IG @steeleworks66
