Shibata rehab...stupid chicken bones!

Post by taz575 »

Got this sent to me for repairs. Shibata R2 240mm:

Guy used it on chicken bones after being told not to use it on bones or frozen foods?? Why use something that thin like that is beyond me!!

Got most of the chips removed and thinned down the blade face:

I left this much of the deepest chip after thinning. This would let me sharpen out the chip and make the area behind the edge slightly thicker for better durability:

No more chips! Ended up being around 47.5mm for the heel height after removing those nasty chips, so it lost around 3-3.5mm or so heightwise! May try some other belts to clean up the finish a bit more. With soft cladding and a hard core, the belts like to grab a good bit when grinding!
