So that's why I'm always broke.

The Instapot seems to always be on sale somewhere for around that price. And that IR Thermometer, the sale saves you $2, not impressed.ronnie_suburban wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 5:39 pm For those who've been tempted by this thread, the Instant Pot DUO Plus 60, 6 Qt is Prime Day-available for $55.99. There's also a nicely ranged IR Thermometer available for $12.78, though I have no idea of its quality (rates 4.9 stars, fwiw). At that price, the barrier to entry is fairly low and may be worth a purchase if you don't have one and have always wanted one.

Yup. I finally picked up the Kenji Lopez-Alt book, The Food Lab: Better Home Cooking Through Science, but that's it. Haven't seen any great deals on kitchen stuff that I wanted. Last year I was able to snag the Anova Precision Cooker for $70.

You can get a Joule right now for $125. That would be REAL tempting if I didn't already have the Anova.sharksfan7 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 7:31 pmYup. I just haven't seen a thing I want let alone need.

Yeah, and those were two of the more interesting items I saw. Definitely not much to see there.Jeff B wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 7:26 pmThe Instapot seems to always be on sale somewhere for around that price. Can someone please explain the sous-vide to me?

Re: Anyone buying anything on primeday?
I've used a Joule for a couple years, almost exclusively with meats. And while not LIFE ALTERING, it works about as well as advertised with steak--specifically thick cuts. However, for me the bigger benefit has been the ability to go directly from freezer to sear-ready, which has definitely reduced food-waste. It's also made my life a bit easier when I work the grill during big family cookouts; I can have four big pieces of strip ready to go on the side while cooking clams and roasting peppers.
There are other uses like cooking entire package of bacon, poaching several eggs at once, etc, should you be interested. At the price it seems to be going for now, I think it reasonable enough grab one to mess around with it a bit.

I'm thinking about getting the unicorn magnum pepper mill - got 10 dollar credit from whole foods purchases that can only be used during prime day.

I have the salt and pepper mills and love them. Although, one of them next expansions of my culinary woodwork will be mills. Once I clear out my handle backlog, we will see what I can come up with.MrIceFungus wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 12:45 am I'm thinking about getting the unicorn magnum pepper mill - got 10 dollar credit from whole foods purchases that can only be used during prime day.

Supporting amazon, enriching the wealthiest monopolist on the planet? No thanks. Jeff Bezos is the worst thing to happen to the american jobs market in my lifetime.
Re: Anyone buying anything on primeday?
I guess I am one of the few Amazon fans, though am not finding much in terms of prime day except for an extra scale.

I'm also an Amazon fan but Prime Day doesn't really move the needle for me.

Right there with you. I have a $10 coupon and I can't find anything to spend it onronnie_suburban wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 11:39 amI'm also an Amazon fan but Prime Day doesn't really move the needle for me.
Which is good in a way.
Living on an island in the middle of the Pacific make buying stuff, even basic essentials, really tough.
