There's also a nicely ranged IR Thermometer available for $12.78, though I have no idea of its quality (rates 4.9 stars, fwiw). At that price, the barrier to entry is fairly low and may be worth a purchase if you don't have one and have always wanted one.
The Instapot seems to always be on sale somewhere for around that price. And that IR Thermometer, the sale saves you $2, not impressed.

I usually treat myself to a new cookbook on Prime Day and that’s about all.
Yup. I finally picked up the Kenji Lopez-Alt book, The Food Lab: Better Home Cooking Through Science, but that's it. Haven't seen any great deals on kitchen stuff that I wanted. Last year I was able to snag the Anova Precision Cooker for $70.

You can get a Joule right now for $125. That would be REAL tempting if I didn't already have the Anova.

I was going to buy a Joule recently when my Avova tanked but I got working again and saved a bundle :D
I just haven't seen a thing I want let alone need.

Yeah, and those were two of the more interesting items I saw. Definitely not much to see there.

Can someone please explain the sous-vide to me?

Hopefully we'll see it when Mark buys out Bezos in a couple years.

I've used a Joule for a couple years, almost exclusively with meats. And while not LIFE ALTERING, it works about as well as advertised with steak--specifically thick cuts. However, for me the bigger benefit has been the ability to go directly from freezer to sear-ready, which has definitely reduced food-waste. It's also made my life a bit easier when I work the grill during big family cookouts; I can have four big pieces of strip ready to go on the side while cooking clams and roasting peppers.

There are other uses like cooking entire package of bacon, poaching several eggs at once, etc, should you be interested. At the price it seems to be going for now, I think it reasonable enough grab one to mess around with it a bit.

I'm thinking about getting the unicorn magnum pepper mill - got 10 dollar credit from whole foods purchases that can only be used during prime day.

Great choice, we love ours. Best pepper mill I have ever used.

I have the salt and pepper mills and love them. Although, one of them next expansions of my culinary woodwork will be mills. Once I clear out my handle backlog, we will see what I can come up with.

Supporting amazon, enriching the wealthiest monopolist on the planet? No thanks. Jeff Bezos is the worst thing to happen to the american jobs market in my lifetime.

I guess I am one of the few Amazon fans, though am not finding much in terms of prime day except for an extra scale.

I'm also an Amazon fan but Prime Day doesn't really move the needle for me.

Right there with you. I have a $10 coupon and I can't find anything to spend it on ;)
Which is good in a way.
