WTS/WTT Nubutama Stones/TF/Dan Prendergast
Hi
Just having a bit of a clear out and want to move on a few things that are underused. I am in the UK.
First up are some Nubutama Platinum stones. They haven’t been used much especially as I prefer my Shapton Glass stones now. For the stones, the prices exclude shipping but if you are interested PM me and I will get a quote for shipping. Happy to look at a discount if someone wants to take all of the stones.
320 - 219mm x 81mm x 27/28mm and 1,160g - £60
600 - 218mm x 78mm x 27/28mm and 945g - £65
1500 - 214mm x 78mm x 27/28mm and 1,020g - £80
3000 - 220mm x 80mm x 24mm and 611g - £100
This stone has a couple of chips that do not impact sharpening but I want to highlight them.
TF Maboroshi 270mm Gyuto - £425 including shipping in the UK/EU. Internationals pay actual cost less £20
268mm x 56mm and 331g
White 1 and stainless clad
Never sharpened and not used for more than 5 mins in my home kitchen. I love TF’s, but it’s just a little too big for me.
Dan Prendergast Monosteel 235mm Gyuto - £275 including shipping in the UK/EU. Internationals pay actual cost less £20
235mm x 51mm x 257g
Bohler K510 Steel
Bog oak handle
One light sharpening and used for less than 30 minutes. It has some heft at the heel through to one of the thinnest tips I have ever seen.
Shigeki Tanaka 135mm Petty Sekiso - £75
137mm x 31mm x 56g
Blue 2 steel with Damascus iron cladding
Ho Wood and Black Buffalo Horn (little light patch on the horn on the under side)
One light sharpening and used for less than 60 minutes.
Takeshi Saji Paring Knife - £125
94mm x 27mm x 98g
AS steel and stainless clad
Black micarta handle
One light sharpening and has been hardly used. This really is a special paring knife, with beautiful fit and finish. I just never need to reach for it.
I open to trades. I am looking for knives that are BNIB or very lightly used. A few suggestions below: -
TF Maboroshi Wa Handle 240mm
TF Denka Wa Handle 240mm
Yu Kurosaki Hammered Western 240mm with Black Micarta Handle - Hand chiselled Kanji not laser etched
Takada No Hamono Suiboku Gyuto 270mm
Konosuke YS Gyuto 240mm
Nigara Anmon 240mm Gyuto
Any other interesting 240mm or 270mm gyuto
Any questions let me know. Thanks for looking.
Best
Gareth

Man, pretty solid deal on a bigger Pendergast. I feel like he only rarely makes anything above 200mm. Wish it was in the cards for me at this time, but someone will love it

DP Gyuto sold. I will probably keep the rest of the knives, but anyone interested in the Nubutama stones, make me an offer.

Re: WTS/WTT Nubutama Stones/TF/Dan Prendergast
A quick query, I thought of posting a separate thread but it is probably more relevant here. Someone interested in the stones asked me whether they were the hard platinum range and thought they may be splash and go stones as well. I bought these stones direct from Ken in 2016 and I am sure he only referred to them as Platinum stones and that they were soakers but not permasoakers albeit I am sure I have read on here that some people have successfully permasoaked them. On the handful of times that I have used them I have treated them as soakers. Any comments from people with more knowledge than me would be very much appreciated.
