Masamoto KS 240/ Kurasaki Laser AS 240 - SOLD!

Post by Cutuu »

These are two that I like and didn't think that i would sell, but I need to pay for the shig nakiri that I refused to sell that i was supposed to. Also, I am long overdue for a takeda gyuto.

The KS was just sharpened yesterday and used for a light dinner. This is the only time it's been sharpened, except maybe a honing strop session- which would have only been once I think. It is patinaing through the laquer that I never took off. $345 shipped conus, includes pay pal fees.

Next Kurasaki AS Laser 240. It is also been sharpened once with a progression of a blue aoto and meara. I stropped it a couple of times before i sharpened it on jnats. I sharpened it probably about two months ago, it seen one maybe two light pro prep sessions since and perhaps a couple of other really light things like testing or maybe a small home meal. I took off very little metal during sharpening. This one has the laser etch kanji. If that is going to bother you, obviously don't buy it :D . It honestly doesn't bother me. I have never thought of it while blazing through product. I have plenty of knives with nice kanji. I don't find the kashima kanji impressive and I'm not selling it. $265 Shippped conus, includes shipping.

Both of these have seen workload that you might see an enthusiatic user use in a passaround week. The ks has seen less action. Ill post some pics in a bit.

Here's pics for the kura laser

I will add a walnut saya from cktg that I got from them for the knife for $20. Otherwise I'll just use the saya for one of my other gyutos.

GLWS on the Kurasaki. It will make someone very happy, I presume.

I've had my eye on these, but am trying to figure out the differences between the Kurosaki AS KU and the Laser. How much is functional/grind, etc., and how much is just differences in appearance?

They r definitely different in grind. I've tried the kanehiro, which supposedly somewhat similiar in grind to the kuro AS, but not the regular kuro AS. The kuro AS should have a little beefier spine, and be a little heavier. More of a middle weight workhorse. The kuro laser is quite interesting, because it cuts smooth like a laser and is actually quite thin, but still has some meat to work with in the grind- so it doesn't come off a little whippy like some lasers can. It also has better food release than alot of classic laser cut knives. It also has the character of a handmade knife. Really interesting combo imo.

Wow I wished I would have looked sooner I have been waiting for a KS to show. Good price to . The Kurasaki Laser I have one great knife in reference to the last post I agree for me it can be somewhere between medium and a workhorse. I have some other Lasers that just don't seem as hearty . But great knife. Any one else who wants to sell a 240 KS I am looking

Good choice. These are nearly impossible to find, especially the 240s. They're fantastic!

Agreed. If not for the Watanabe I'm borrowing swaying me in that direction I'd totally have picked up the Kurosaki.
