Both are very nice but that Maple Burl....
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.

Maple Burl and Curly Koa (and now Acacia) are my 2 favorite woods! I find the Maple burls that are died darker don't show off the grain as nice, but a natural or light color stabilized wood really pops!

Re: Show us your new handle
My first encounter. First time I had trouble with a rehandle. I tried my usual method of submerging in simmering water(I literally sous vide it in a bag and all), it wouldn’t budge, I then tried knocking it off with a piece of 2x4 after another long soak, no luck, but I was determined to rehandle this bad boy. I hope I went about it the right way (the new handle feels great and secure), I dremel’d the handle right down the middle, then pry’d it off with a chisel and used same chisel to clean it up. I don’t think it was epoxy’d the glue was soft and flexible, however, it looks like this handle was also burnt in? Idk, either way this was a fun task!

Re: Show us your new handle
Sometimes they use a white/light tan color silicon type caulk adhesive to attach the handles? It's springy, so when you whack it, it doesn't budge. It gets gummy when it gets heated up though. They may do the burn in, squirt some of the adhesive down the handle and then install. It will help seal the tang/handle junction to prevent water from coming in, but its a PITA to remove.
